EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK

Today I need inspiration. It is just one of those days where I am struggling. Nothing in particular is wrong. I am just all fuzzy and frazzly and grumpy pants.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for online, so I’m going to write it for you. Just in case anyone else is feeling fuzzy today.

Here are the things I want desperately for someone to tell me right now. So listen up!

1.       Everything is going to be ok. There are a lot of things on your mind right now. That is ok. Let them be there. You do not control everything. You can’t possibly control everything. It’s ok to stop trying. Have faith. Take a deep breath. Everything is going to be ok. I promise.

2.       It will all get done. You probably have a to-do list eight miles long. If it’s ten miles long or ten million miles long, it doesn’t matter. It will all get done. The world accomplishes things. You are a small and important part of that. But it is important to remember that you are just one part. You cannot do everything. If for some reason you cannot do a task, there is someone else who can do it. We are all playing on the same life team. It will all get done. It is not your responsibility to do everything by yourself. Do your best. And trust those around you. It will all get done. And, if something really doesn’t get done, perhaps it didn’t need to be completed at all.

3.       You will never be perfect – and that is wonderful – so it’s ok to stop criticizing yourself for who you are. It is ok to snooze and not go to the gym. It is ok to want to wear sweatpants to work. It is ok to watch trash TV instead of reading or blogging or thinking. It is ok to rest and to cry and to not have things about your body you don’t like. You are not perfect. Because you are human. Perfect doesn’t exist. Love yourself. Love your best. Love your worst. I love you. You should love you too.

4.       You are doing a good job. You are doing a great job of learning how to be an adult and pay your bills and do your job. You are doing a good job of being yourself and saying no and saying yes and opening your heart. You are learning how to do things and you are doing a really good job. Keep up the good work.

5.       I love you. Very very much. Just as you are. Right now. Even with your grumpy pants on. I love those pants. I love you.

I also want to say that I have had people in my life tell me these things. For that I am very blessed. Still, at the end of the day, it’s really important to be able to say them to yourself.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

  3. You missed my favorite one which is "Anything can be accomplished one step at a time." Maureen, you're my superhero, so I have no doubt everything is going to be alright. :-)
