VIRGINIA WINE TOUR

A big part of what makes me happy in life is all of the wonderful relationships I have with my friends and family. I love being a daughter/sister/granddaughter/friend!

For my Mom's birthday, I took her to three wineries on a Virginia wine tour for some quality Mommy / Mo time. :)

Our first stop was Loudoun Valley Vineyards. It was smaller as a venue goes, but the tasting room had tons of spots to sit and the views were breathtaking!

I loved this wine label. The whites are all in this color scheme and the reds are purples and blues!

My favorite part about Loudoun Valley was that they have their very own chef. Unlike most vineyards in VA, they make their own food right on site. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and OH MAN it was out of this world. It was delish to eat as we tasted the wines and we also loved the fact that we got to talk to the chef as he was just hanging out in the tasting room with us.

Benefit of a smaller venue - more attention and care!

The second winery we went to was Sunset Hills Vineyard, also in Loudoun County. I LOVE this venue and had been here twice before (once for Allison's bridal shower!)

Mom thought the tiny bread sticks that looked like mini versions of French baguettes were hilarious.

Look how adorable she is - filled with laughter!

After our tasting, we ordered a delicious pretzel and sat back at a table to enjoy the musical stylings of Jason Masi. He is my favorite local celebrity and is becoming a dear friend. In December of 2011 He helped Chris propose to Allison while Josh, Michelle, and I filmed it all. Josh edited this video together and Jason Masi was the big surprise of the proposal.

His voice is amazing and so full of soul. I love his covers but his original work is even better. I highly recommend his new album Life is Beautiful.

We were there so long that Mom found the winery cat!

And Jason even had the whole winery sing happy birthday to her. I love it!!!!!

The third vineyard on our tour was Dry Mill Vineyards and Winery. Mom loved the horse on the labels - the tasting room is a gorgeously refurbished stables.

This venue also had live music playing and sold some interesting jams and picked treats. It was nice that our third stop was back to a smaller venue because once again, we could ask a thousand questions. They were so patient with us and we really enjoyed it. Mom and I will probably go back for their summer festival in June!

All-in-all it was a successful day, and I think Mom really liked her birthday present!
