PUMPKIN BEER TASTING PART II

After a successful Pumpkin Beer Tasting Part I
here are my results for the next three...
What a fun month!

Number four...

Middlebury, VT

Tasting notes:
-This is the most delicious alcohol juice I've ever tasted
-Super sweet because, well, it's a hard cider not a beer
-Can't taste much pumpkin
-Less apple-y than normal cider though
-Very smooth
-Very sweet... almost too sweet
-I would maybe make some kind of punch with this
-Needs ice maybe to dilute
-It's good but not really autumnal
-Seems more like a what you would grab if you didn't have Mike's Hard
4/10

Five ...

Pumpkin Ale
Wolaver's Fine Organic Ales
Otter Creek Brewing, Middlebury, VT

Tasting notes:
-Very pleasant
-After the cider we are DEFINITELY back to beer
-Definite hints of pumpkin
-Not sweet at all
-Oktoberfest-ish
-A bit heavier but not hard to drink
-Very smooth
-Can definitely taste the hops, slightly bitter
-Enjoy drinking this and not too heavy
-Strong flavor pallet of earth
-Some cinnamon in the aftertaste mixed with squash
7/10

Six...

Imperial Pumpkin Ale
Weyerbacher Brewing Co.
Easton, PA

Tasting notes:
-Spices right off the bat
-Cloves or cinnamon... ginger maybe
-Definitely molasses on the finish
-Has a floral taste
-Almost can't tell what it tastes like
-Somewhere in between pumpkin and Oktoberfest
-It has a tart almost sour flavor at first taste
-Can't tell if it's pleasant or not
-Too spice-y for me
5/10

What is the best pumpkin beer you have tasted this season?

  4. Ha! I love this post and idea! I'm definitely not a big cider fan, but that Wolaver's definitely looks like something I'd be interested in! Local beers are always my favorite. Up in MA we have Opa Opa and it's delish.
