It's my favorite month of the year.

I thought I'd kick off the best month of all time by sharing with you part 1 of a pumpkin beer tasting series.
Much like all of America, I love pumpkin everything.

So, I made my own six pack of random pumpkin beers at Total Wine last week and I will be tasting them one at a time and providing you my thoughts.
I know everyone has different tastes, so I'm trying to describe the flavors, sweetness, and weight of each beer. My rating (out of ten) is obviously based on personal preference.

First up...
Williamsburg, VA

Tasting notes:
-Recommended by the guy at Total Wine
-Want to say sweet but not saccharine
-Tastes like pumpkin pie spice that you cook with
-No bitter after taste
-Really delicious
-Very smooth and not too heavy
-Hints of nutmeg and brown sugar
-Aftertaste of almost cinnamon as you smell it
-Tastes like biting into pumpkin bread
9/10 stars

Second to taste...
Salisbury, MD

Tasting notes:
-Not as sweet
-Tastes more like fall than pumpkin
-Also nice and light not too heavy
-I could drink more than one of these, but I'm not sure how much pumpkin is in it
-Tastes more like an Oktoberfest
-Very easy to drink
-Aftertaste of squash, the true flavor of the pumpkin rather than the pumpkin pie (read: sugar)
-This one tastes more like a normal beer than the last one
7/10 stars

Who's on third...
Holland, MI

Tasting notes:
-Definitely the darkest of the three
-More of a deep autumn flavor
-Can't really taste pumpkin at all
-More of a dark beer
-Not bitter at all though
-Smooth finish
-Not many pronounced flavors but hints of molasses
4/10 stars

Stay tuned for part 2 when I report on the other three pumpkin delights!

And Happy October friends. :)
