43. SNOW SKI

I'm such a lucky girl that after skiing in Breckenridge in February, I also had the opportunity to ski in Utah at the Canyons resort right outside of Salt Lake City after my business trip last week. I can cross off #43 on my 101 in 1001 Challenge twice!

It was a gorgeous ski day. The weather was right around 39 degrees, sky was blue, the clouds were white and there was about 8 inches of fresh powder on the slopes. I couldn't have asked for anything better... except maybe a ski buddy. :)

Overall I really liked Utah skiing. I think I have to rate Breck higher on my list because the runs were a bit more varied. Canyons had lots of blue and double blue runs which are my sweet spot but they were all very similar - long, narrow, and winding. I would have liked a bit more steep sections with wider parts to make it a bit more challenging and allow me to slalom and work on my technique.

I will say though, everyone I met was delightful. Utah is a lovely place to ski.

  1. I've never been skiing (I'm a klutz!), but this looks amazing. Glad you had a good time!

  2. Looks beautiful! Like Caitlin, I've never been skiing -- but I can see the allure with views like this! I'm extremely unathletic, though, and fear I'd wind up in a life-threatening situation. Soooo, I'll just continue to live vicariously through others and their gorgeous photos. :)

  5. You should try it! There are some sweet little ski places in the Blue Ridge mountains. A day trip perhaps??

  6. It was like standing on top of the world. I almost had a Leo moment where I screamed, "I'm the King of the world," to the empty mountain.
