It's two days past our favorite Mexican fiesta but if you need a little hair of the dog this recipe is delicious. Last Friday after work I had had "one of those weeks" so I decided to treat myself to a fancy grown-up cocktail and celebrate The May Project in style.

Enter the Blackberry Margarita.

No mixes here! Check out this delicious recipe and it's totally easy if you just want to make one like I did!

Blackberry Margarita
Modified from this recipe
1.5 ounces tequila
1 ounce Cointreau
1/2 tbsp sugar
10 blackberries
1 lime (just the juice)
1/4 cup sparkling water
Put all of the ingredients into a shaker.
Mash the blackberries with everything until they are pulp.
Making sure the top is secure, shake everything up.
Pour over ice and enjoy.
Note: You can strain out the blackberry mash if you don't prefer pulp.

  1. Sounds quite refreshing -- and perfect for summer!

  2. Seriously Meg it was so yummy. I didn't strain out the pulp but I think I might in the future. That would make it easier to drink which means I could have more. :)

  3. This sounds perfect for a breezy summer night :)

  4. True story, I've never had a margarita. But this one sure looks pretty!

  5. Now that it's getting quite warm, it's so lovely to have this cold baby to sip on!

  6. Wait, Rach, you have NEVER had a margarita?!

Well we should remedy that. Or you should try a virgin one next time you're at a Mexican restaurant. Frozen ones are amazing too!

  7. Haha! I know, right?! I have mitral valve prolapse so I have to control my sugar, caffeine, and alcohol intake very carefully. Which means I never really developed the taste for alcohol in college like many of my friends. There are a couple of light beers that I can tolerate drinking a few sips of, but that's about it, haha! I think I'd probably like the sugary, fruity drinks, but alas - all that sugar + alcohol = bad for my heart. ;) Instead I'll just look at your pretty picture and drink my lemon water. ;)
